Author Guidelines

Focus and Scope

NOTES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Contributions, which should be original and not published elsewhere, are welcomed from educationists: both the lecturers and students in EFL education. Main articles should be between 1000 and 5000 words in length. Manuscripts for review should be sent to the Editor, EFL Education Journal, Prodi Bahasa Inggris, FKIP Jember.

EFL Education Journal accepts articles on English language education which have not been published elsewhere.
For publication purposes, manuscripts should be typed in MS Word doc.format, using 12 size Times New Roman fonts, one and a half spaced on A4- size paper, 7 - 20 pages in length with one soft copy
Articles will be reviewed by subject reviewers, while the editors reserve the right to edit articles for format consistency without altering the substance.
Articles are to be written in essay style with subheading for each part, except for the introduction.
Research report/thesis articles should contain: (a) Title; (b)Full name of contributor(s) without title(s), and Institution; (c) Abstract (max 150 words); (d) Key words; (e) Introduction without heading, that contains rationale, problems; and previous related research findings (f) Research design; (g) Research findings; (h) Pedagogical implications; (i) Conclusion and Suggestion; (j) References
The references should be presented alphabetically and chronologically in APA citation style.
Manuscripts (in MS word) are to be sent to EFL Education Journal submission system. Authors are required to register for user account in the journal submission system.

Word limits

There are no strict limits on the manuscript lengths for J-AGT original research and review articles, but the recommended word limits are 7,500 and 10,000 words, respectively. The word limits exclude references, tables, and figures.

Preparation of manuscripts

Manuscripts can be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English. Authors must ensure that the manuscripts written in a full English version are clear and comprehensible. An English proofreading certificate may be requested during its submission. American English is preferable. The manuscript is prepared on A4-sized paper, typed in a single column with Times New Roman font, single-spaced, and with a margin of 2.5 cm on all four sides. Authors should provide and upload a single Word file containing the title, abstract and keywords, introduction, research methods, results and discussion with tables and figures (tables and figures are not placed after the references section), conclusion, acknowledgements, and references.

Manuscript style

The title should be concise, informative, and clear, preferably not more than 15 words. The title should be written in both correct Bahasa Indonesia and English. Author names and affiliations must be correctly written and clearly indicate the author for correspondence, along with (*) after the author’s name, and only include the email address of the corresponding author.
The abstract and keywords must be written in correct English with no more than 250 words. The abstract should cover the purpose of the study, methods, main results, and major conclusions. References are not allowed to be included in this section. Abbreviations should be clearly defined at first mention. Please provide 3-5 keywords, separated by a comma.
The introduction should briefly state the previous relevant studies with references, and also state novel approaches and the purpose of the study.
Research methods should contain materials, analytical procedures, and data analysis. Relevant references must be presented for known methods, and modifications should be clearly explained.
Results and discussion should be combined. This section must focus on the significance of the results at first. Clearly state your statement and compare it to the existing literature. Please provide grayscale tables and figures and use 10-point Times New Roman font. Print-screen tables and figures are not allowed, and your manuscript will be rejected and returned if a submitted manuscript contains such materials.
The conclusion should be no more than 2 paragraphs. The conclusion should gather the points from the multiple findings to synthesize the conclusion and answer the purpose of the study. Authors are also requested to provide recommendations for future study.
Acknowledgements should be brief and clear.
References should be listed in alphabetical order. The last name of each author is written first, followed by given names in initials. The bibliography should contain 80% of the most recent references from the last 5-6 years and 20% from older references. The format should be Times New Roman, 11-point font, using Mendeley or EndNote, using the American Psychological Association (APA) format, and accompanied by a DOI (if sourced from a journal).
